Pinehurstcharlie:

Here is an article about Brunswick Forest that has a lot of information regarding social activities. Its somewaht of an advertorial, so I wouldn't necessarily accept everything at face value:

Mike Macdonald spoke for many of his neighbors when he described how he and his wife Lisa decided where to buy a home in the area. "The shopping, entertainment and amenities, plus the ease of access to everything, were pros for Brunswick Forest," he said. "We really didn’t have any cons," he concluded.

"That’s why we chose to move here."

An award-winning, master-planned community just over the Cape Fear River Bridge from Wilmington, Brunswick Forest is known for its active, social lifestyle centered around an unparalleled lineup of country club-like amenities, yet without the typical dues and fees. In addition to the nationally renowned 18-hole golf course Cape Fear National®, residen ts enjoy tennis and pickleball courts, three swimming pools (two outdoor, one indoor), a fitness and wellness center, miles of walking and biking trails, a boat landing at Town Creek and immediate access to The Villages at Brunswick Forest’s shops, restaurants and medical as well as other services.

Additionally, residents can join any of dozens of clubs dedicated to nearly every interest—from line dancing to casting a line, golf to gardening, painting to poker, Bunco to book clubs. Jerry Helms, Director of Sales and Marketing for Brunswick Forest, commented, "As they say around here, if there isn’t a club for what you want, you simply start one!"

STAFF AT YOUR SERVICE

Helms went on to po int out that Brunswick Forest’s amenities offer a higher level of service than most communities. "We have a dedicated staff that prides itself on providing a wide range of wellness and recreation programs for every fitness level and interest," he said.

"We offer everything from Zumba to yoga, as well as weight rooms, cardio rooms and morning fitness classes in both indoor and outdoor pools," added Nicole Stone, Director of Brunswick Forest’s Fitness and Wellness Center. "We have organized tennis and pickleball play and clinics, kayaking trips, and even arranged outings to places like the theatre, concerts, restaurants and sporting events." The wellness side includes spa services, such as massages and nutrition classes, as well as less physical activities, such as bridge and foreign language groups.

"There is so much to do here you can’t be bored," echoed Brunswick Forest resident Sue Gibson.

"You can do as little or as much as you want. There are a lot of activities and you get to meet a lot of new people all the time."

FUN AND FRIENDSHIP

Letti Johnston weighed in on the social buzz in the community. "There are so many things to do in Brunswick Forest, but the number one thing for us is that we love our neighbors and we do so many things with them." Letti also cited kayaking at the River Club, and the abundant safe biking and nature trails, features also cited by Joan and Pete Papp.

"We wanted a neighborhood where everything was close," sai d Joan. "In Connecticut, we used to get in the car to do everything and it took a lot of time. Now everything is right here and we can even walk. We are outdoors people and being in Brunswick Forest really made a difference in being able to go out and play in December, January and February. We even ride bikes like two little kids.

It’s so much fun living here."

ONE SIZE DOESN’T FIT ALL

While a single, cohesive community, Brunswick Forest is a collection of neighborhoods that offer many different home sizes, styles and price points. Helms said residents often form a closeknit group with their immediate neighbors, and a wider social circle throughout the community. The land plan even promotes neighborly interaction, with strategically placed common amenities and interconnected sidewalks and biking trails.

Perhaps resident Jane Sunderland summed up the overarching atmosphere of Brunswick Forest best. "It seems like everyone is on vacation all the time here," she laughed. "You have to schedule your down-time."

Brunswick Forest is a beautiful community...just way too big for us (will be 7500 when complete). We find living in a Del Webb with almost 1300 homes overwhelming. We felt the same way about St James. While very nice, just wasn't for us.

Hi, We to are looking to visit a Del Web community in Sun City Bluffton SC. All the Del Web`s look nice. If you don`t mind my asking....what did you find that was overwhelming? Lots of activities are listed. Are most of them active? Thanks for any advice that you can give

We are in the Raleigh area. The community is lovely and the amenity center is amazing. Very active community. Tons of clubs and plenty of activities to keep you busy. We love our house and have made great friends but will be leaving in about 18 months when we retire.

We've bought a home in Southport as we miss being close to the beach (we're both from coastal New England). We prefer a smaller community and one that is not age restricted. We miss having young people around as well as the laughter of children. I also find the community "cliquish" but I'm sure that can be found almost anywhere. Feel free to DM me if you have any other specific questions.
