We're retiring and moving from central NJ to Leland NC. From the research we've done so far, we are leaning to dealing directly with a mover and avoiding brokers.
Most horror stories deal with low balling estimates where the price goes up after your belongings have been loaded into the truck.

Looking for reviews of movers for late August, and what to avoid, especially from those of you who've recently been through a similar move.

We used premium movers in Oak Island. They were great.

We moved from Hunterdon County, NJ to Bolivia, NC. We obtained quotes from United, Mayflower, Allied and Bekins. We decided on Bekins for price and a willingness to work with us. We had zero problems and highly recommend them.
