Danielle has sent some swells into the area. Some of them have created some photogenic waves.

More pictures from the same beach walk are available at my Picasa web albums site.

This was an impressive wave.

A week down might hold you for a few months.

The weather is just getting nice. We are entering my favorite time of year- fall.

Hoping that within a yr we can get a house. That is the life I want!! Love the ocean. Thanks so much for sharing pictures. I have heard from others that fall is very awsome there, hopefully someday I can see it for myself.

Fall can be a really nice time to be at the beach, but some years are better than others. We had a lot of rain in 2009, but 2008 was nearly perfect except for an early frost. The truth is that we get some great days just about every month, and once in a while we get a perfect month. Good luck getting down here.

Default North Carolina coastal: FANTASTIC place to retire to

I said it is a fantastic place to retire to. Very True. I am a boater, offshore fisherman, lived in Raleigh 21 years - DC, Fairfax, Richmond, Va earlier in my life. BUT: People who still have years to work, with a family should be careful about assuming that a vibrant coast-vacation area is ALSO a place to find a metro-level paying job. Not the case here, as it rarely is in any largely tourist-retirement area. But OH SO beautiful!

Smile October, the perfect time of year to come to the beach

If the weather gets any better, I am going to run out of words to describe it.

This photo was taken Sunday night at the Western Regional Beach Access at Emerald Isle. Lots more pictures from the same evening at this link.

Default Whale and Dolphins at Fort Fisher

I was out driving on the beach at Fort Fisher on Wednesday and Friday. There were hundreds of dolphins and we also spotted a whale. We were very excited to see the whale and the dolphins were very active. It was a wonderful way to end the year!

This is the whale next to a dolphin. They seemed to be enjoying each others company.

I was lucky to get this shot!

Some of the dolphins were as close to 20' off-shore. At first we were worried they were in trouble but they were either playing of feeding.
