thinking of moving to new bern NC (job market, construction)

We are thinking of relocating from ct to new bern NC. We have 4 kids 3 of which will be in the elementary school. We are tired of the long winters, and are looking for a better quality of life. Can anyone give us any advice? How are the schools. Our careers are construction, and special ed teacher. How is the job market. We are in the beginning phase of this life change and appreciate any info. Does anyone know about the subdivision colours, I cant recall the full name.
