It seems as though electricity customers of Greenville Utilities can look forward to a reduction in the price of electricity in the not too distant future.
"Federal regulators on Tuesday approved a $1.2 billion deal to allow Duke Energy Progress to buy back power plant ownership from 32 debt-saddled Eastern North Carolina towns that bought costly shares in the power plants more than three decades ago."
Where did you read - hear about the pressbox? I haven't seen anything about it anywhere since holland was here...you're ways a very reliable poster so just interested.
"East Carolina University is seeking the services of a qualified design
firm to provide advanced planning services for a new Student Services
Building. This 50,000 square foot facility will create a centralized
"one stop shop" location for students and parents to access student
support services such as Financial Aid, Registrar, Academic Advising
and Support Center, Career Center, Admissions and other services. The
three story building will be located near the main campus on Reade
Street and may include a parking deck. Pending the results of the
study the selected design firm may be retained through design and
construction at the University's sole discretion. Current project
authorization is for planning only."
Looks like a $15 million 3 story building on Reade Street downtown to relocate admissions/registrar etc into. I believe the Master Plan called for a building and possible parking deck on the block between 2nd and 3rd St where the old Reflector building is located. A new Alumni Center is to be built across Reade Street where an existing parking lot is now (i.e...build the new deck first so the other site is available).
This would be another BIG project for downtown Greenville if so and may necessitate the building of the pedestrian bridge crossing 5th St also called for in the Master Plan.
