Does anyone know what is going on in the shopping center on S Memorial near the Mi Cabana and Burger King? There has been a small building that has been vacant for a long time, and now there is a large addition going up. My secret hope is for a Smithfields, but have no proof!
It's going to be where Anchalee Thai (currently in the old shopping center where the DMV used to be) moves to in the fall.
Every business is making its way out of that old shopping center to make way for Hobby Lobby, etc.
Anybody know what's going up on Firetower next to the shiny diner for sale? I know the large building is rumored to be a flooring store but there appears to be another building going up right in front of it closer to Firetower.
Back to the Phoenix building, I thought ECU's registrar was moving into that building after the Phoenix lease was up? Or was that in the already developed portion beside it?
I don't know what spot you take these pictures from, but they are great! I'm glad they are going up 4 stories. I wish it were 6 but I'll take 4. It is already changing how the uptown area feels. If I were a student this is where I would want to live if I could afford it.
Nice to see things start going upward. More of downtown needs to move up. I wish they could consolidate all those government & ECU buildings downtown between 1st & 3rd streets. They are all old cinder-block buildings that the gov will probably never let go of to move into one multi-floor building & free up land.
