Who is the best team in the BCS era?

I'd say the 02 Canes, followed by the 05 Trojans.

2001-02 Canes

Undefeated
Only test was Virginia Tech
Beat 2 ranked teams back to back (#14 Cuse and #12 Washington) by a combined score of 124-7
led 34-0 in the title game at halftime

Clinton Portis, Frank Gore, Willis McGahee, Bryant McKinnie, Andre Johnson, Jeremy Shockey, Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, Jonathan Vilma, Phillip Buchanon

Since USC cheated... I have to go with my team who had to knocked off big schools like UF and the U to be undefeated to get in and went onto beat a Michael Vick VT team.

It really is crazy when you look at the players coming out of the U back in the early to mid 2000s.

I'd go with the 2002 Miami Hurricanes followed by the 1999 Florida State Seminoles.

My honest opinion is 2011(2010 season) Alabama, yes the 10-3 team.

that was the offense that included; Greg McElroy, Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, trent Richardson, Eddie Lacy , marquis Maze, Barrett Jones, D.J. Fluker, Chance Warmack,William Vlachos, James Carpenter.

On defense; Dre Kirkpatrick, Mark Barron,Marcell Dareus, Dequan Menzie, Josh Chapman,Robert Lester, C.J. Mosley, Courtney Upshaw,Dont'a Hightower,Nico Johnson.

that team was loaded, just young.

^This. That 2002 Hurricanes team was LOADED. The sheer amount of NFL superstars on that team was insane.

They weren't even the best team that year as evidenced by the fact that they lost 3 games. They may have had a greater collection of talent than anyone else but a team =/= a collection of talent. This year's Alabama team would smoke that team, in fact I think most of the teams on OP's list would have rolled that team. They were too young and not deep enough to compete with the great teams on this list.

Has to be the "06" Longhorns who beat the "threepeat" Trojans.

I think You would be wrong, that 2010 Alabama showed just how great it was when it destroyed Michigan State in the Bowl.

they lost to Auburn(the national champ) after leading 24 -0.and lost 27-28

That Team in January would have beaten any team that stepped on the field with them. the Defense had matured and was playing at the same level it would play at the next season when it only allowed like 8 points a game.

That team, in January, would have beaten everyone on that list.
