I'd say better than average. They're definitely talented, but they've been prone to lapses on defense. Whatever...Ohio State, for one game, was about as good as any team can possibly be. They were ready to stomp an in-conference rival, and they crushed them into a pulp.

No, they played a rougher schedule then Baylor and TCU. Ohio St 47 ranked while both Baylor and TCU were close to 100.

Baylor beat TCU head to head so TCU is a goner.

Baylor lost a game with their entire first string.

Ohio St lost a game with 5 starters including a Heisman candidate out of the game.

Then comes Wisconsin, ranked no.8 and a 3rd string QB. The 3rd string QB would start at both TCU and Baylor.

Ohio St destroys them with a 3rd string QB. Showing the committee they are a solid team top to bottom while both Baylor and TCU have known weaknesses.

TCU is out by the head to head.

This was NOT determined by Ohio St beating the crap out of Wisconsin solely. Even through they took a record breaking running back and left him with only 43 yards.

Ohio St earned this spot. They would be 13-0 had they not lost their senior QB or played Vir Tech who is also in a bowl game played one week later when a freshman QB named Barrett learns the ropes and is now talked about for the Heisman.

I interpret this as Ohio State playing in the very weak conference. Look at it this way, there's no way a school starting a 3rd string QB who didn't play should thrash another top 25 school during a conference championship game.

They demolished a supposedly good team with 3rd string QB but lost to a bad VT team with 2nd string QB. Tells me their team is more than just their QB.

So they SHOULD have beaten VT because they aren't dependent on their QB. To me, they get downgraded just for that reason alone.

Or Wisconsin laid an egg for the good of the conference

There have been many questions about what may have actually happened to Wisconsin. Did they throw the Big 14 Title Game, or did they lose their way to Indianapolis, and never actually arrived?

In any case they made it to #5 (!) of the infamous Bottom 10. Apparently the National Guard was called out and they are currently conducting a search for the Badgers...
