Keith Jackson has passed away. He was 89. In my mind he's the greatest college football announcer and one of the best sports announcers of all time. The Rose Bowl was elevated with him calling the game. He made the 3:30 games on ABC a must watch and gave them all a big game feel. Very few announcers are able to establish themselves so well into the sport they called, he was college football.

Keith will always be associated with an almost "southern" drawl, and his folksy on-air style. In truth, he spent most of adulthood nowhere near the South, graduating from Washington State University, and working in the Seattle and Los Angeles markets before going national.
In his later years he just did Pac-12 games, or games that were originated on the west coast.
The point here is even today his voice is missed in college football.
