Is it necessary to include GPA in resume? 'Cause my GPA is low, about 3.1, so I am afraid this would reduce the employers's interest in the first impression. But if I don't include GPA, will they assume I am hidding something? I am so confused now. Need your advice. Thank you.
Btw, I am a grad student in EE

No. If an employer wants your GPA, they'll ask you to provide transcripts.

Leave it out. It's going to be too HIGH or too LOW.

When I graduated, my college recommended to put it in if it is above 3.5. I'd leave it out.

I thought that professional resume "etiquette" was to only list your GPA if it was/is above a 3.0?

We were told to list it if it's a 3.5 or better, or 3.0 in a technical major to adjust for the increased difficulty of engineering/it/cs etc.

If they want to know your GPA they will ask for it and/or a copy of your transcripts.

If you don't list it they will assume it is because it sucks. If it does suck, however, you have nothing to lose by omitting it.

IF you're a new graduate looking for your first job, put it on there if it's over 3.0.

If you're looking for your 2nd, 3rd, 4th,etc job- leave it off. No one cares at that point....unless you graduated Summa *** Laude. (Edit to add: ok, seriously.....not using it as a dirty word, City Data editors!!!!)

I suppose it depends on what field you are in, but I have never, never had a job where they cared one bit what my GPA was. All that mattered was that I had the degree.
