Does he speak Farsi? Arabic? German? Any other language?

He'll need to take the Defense Language Aptitude Battery as well. He won't just waltz into MI. And he wouldn't be making 6 figures in four years unless he was commissioned.

You might take this to the Military forum. But the guy (or woman) who is going to do well in MI would be digging out the answers to your question on his own. That's what they do in MI.

Best of luck to him. To be honest it sounds like he wants a lot but has a very small set of parameters of what he's willing to do to get it. That's very hard to achieve. Urge him to take the practice ASVAB tests available on line. Free practice.

He isn't interested in going to the military on the full time basis. He is only interested in joining the national guard. His main interest is college. Which is why I posted in this forum. I only spoke of the national guard as background information. His goal is not the military. It's college. If he can't do military intel then he just can't. It's not a huge concern for him. His only concern is obtaining a bachelors, getting a stable career, and starting a family.

He has done his own research as of now, but just wanted some more feedback from those he knows who went to college(me and the "so"). Is it so strange to help family out? I see posts on here frequently from spouses and parents asking questions about college, didn't think it was so weird that I posted a thread here asking about my bro in law and his options. And he has been studying from a variety of resources, ASVAB online practice tests being one of them. He will take the test in October and enlist as well. Probably won't shoot for school until Spring or summer of 2013.

No. In fact it's nice of you to be concerned for him.

I'm with the people who say he should enroll in a community college ASAP. And have him read "What Color is Your Parachute". I'm not sure if this is the thread that book was recommended in, but he'd benefit from reading it.

Right now he needs the discipline of getting up and going to class every morning. He should at least be taking General Ed classes while he's wandering around in the desert.

Okay. It's too late for him to enroll in community college for the fall. Most classes start within two weeks, and he just completed the FASFA last week. It looks like if he were to go it would be in January of 2013. I will definitely tell the "so" to tell him to get the book.

It's the "so" that is concerned for him and wanted me to do the research since I stay at home and lately have had more time on my hands than what I've been used to, since having my son.

Thank you everyone for the information.
