Does the government provide any single mom student loans or is it just a scam or myth?

If so could you please provide the link.

I did a google search with the words, "single parent student loan" and didn't see anything official. If there are any, I would hope that they would be for any single parent, not just Mom's.

Federal Student loans are based on income, assets and dependents.

Two years ago, Obama encouraged single mothers to obtain higher education, if I remember correctly, as a way to stimulate the economy. In order to help cover the expenses, single mothers could (can) receive a scholarship in the form of a raising-of-the-cap on annual Pell Grant limits.

I am not sure if Obama's idea was ever implemented, but I believe the program is known as Scholarships for Moms if you care to investigate.

As for loans, there are no loans specifically for single mom's, but there are tons and tons of available scholarships.

+1

The are not based on age or anything else but need (need is a factor of income, assets and dependents/expenses vs. cost of attendance).
There are no specific federal loans for single moms/parents (except PLUS but that's different), but none of the federal loan programs exclude single parents
