During my junior year I switched from computer science to telecommunications so that I could get experience with other aspects of programming (HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc.) that were not taught in CSE classes (which mostly covered just C++). I then graduated with a BA in Telecommunications, even though I think it was silly for these classes to be considered part of an "art" major.
Nevertheless, my first job was an Application Developer role for IBM in which the things I learned from both the CSE and TC classes proved useful. I don't think I would have been nearly as good (or even gotten the job) if I had only studied one or the other.
