I am a bit in scramble mode trying to figure out what subject after being waitlisted from two nursing programs. Planned to apply to two more school's at the end of this Fall. However, found out my Chem doesn't meet the requirements and need to take a more advanced Chem. Only issue is the CC I normally attends requires a Precalc class
I am in the process of waiting for me to be able at another community college. Few issues is classes could fill up and really wouldn't be saving money if I took it at another community college being it's a 30 mile round trip to the 5 one's nearby.

The Precalc is not needed at any of the programs applying to. I emailed the instructor if he could grant me permission to take the course so waiting to see what happens. Anyone ever have any success in asking for an override?

Also how much credibility do you put into Rate My Professor? All the classes wanting to take the instructors are mostly between 2 and 3 with some negative feedback.

Appreciate the responses.

People only go on rate my professor if the person is amazing and gorgeous or horrible, so chances are, unless it's an overwhelming amount of reviews, you'll be fine. Also depends on the school and classroom capacity- I had a teacher once accept 20 beyond what he was supposed to- he made the decision, without the school (he got in trouble afterwards) to hold the class in a bigger room lol- really just depends

I don't put any stock at all in "Rate my Professor."

Of course overrides are given. You need to wait and see if this instructor will grant an exception for this class.

Honestly a lot will depend on the chemistry course content. The chemistry course I took definitely needed calc. On the other hand the less technical courses did not.

Are you able to sign up for the class without the prerequisite or is it a "forced" prerequisite that it prevents you from adding? I signed up for classes several times that I didn't have the prerequisite for but knew I was capable of doing. Good luck.

It really sucks because the class is exactly the same as the other 7 community colleges in the State, but it's the only one that requires Pre-Calc for the class. Figuring in the cost of gas miles it's cheaper to sign up for the Pre-Calc if I have to.
