Don't think we have an online bulletion board. Although there are 25 000 students, though.
I now used amazon.com for two books. Man, they really suck. Didn't just want a lot of fees, but I also have to wait two weeks to receive my money
Our school doesn't have one either, and like I said, my school is freaking HUGE, population wise. I don't get it.
They also have a ridiculous web for students section of the website for accessing grades, schedule info, class registration, etc. that is only up and running certain hours each week! Compltely outdated and ridiculous... but I don't want to veer too far off topic.
I'm doing the Craigslist thing right now and have sold a couple books and have interested people for most of the rest. Quite a few of these same books that the bookstores would not even BUY back from me at all! They said they were out dated, or not being used, etc. I am glad I went and looked them up to see if they were indeed still in use (they are!)... instead of just going by what they told me. I am really really against the bookstores at this point and will ONLY go there if I have no other option.
I would definitely try Facebook Marketplace. It's free on Facebook, been using it for 2 years!
You can choose your entry to be viewed by just people at your college, just people in your network, or everyone, etc. When someone sees your entry, he/she can message you, and together you can find a place to meet to sell the book(s).
Four days ago, I posted a used textbook on FB Marketplace and had an interested student at my college reply the very next day! It's a great resource.
We use GetRoys.com. Im at UC Irvine and lots of us are now using this site b/c its free and you advertise to the students at your own college so u just bring the book to student rather than having to ship it or deal with some weirdo.
bigwords.com is a good site. They'll compare different sites for you and let you know if those sites will pay for shipping costs to them. I've used it a number of times and seems good to me.
I've sold through Amazon before. They may want a chunk of a commission, but most of the time, bookstores won't even take the book back because a new edition is out and your one-year old book is now obsolete on that campus. Someone somewhere in this country will need that book and is always looking for the next best deal.
