I got accepted to the graduate schools at both Cal Poly SLO and CSU Chico (my program is history). So, which school should I go to? I got a BA in history from CSU Chico but am getting sort of bored here in Chico. I know Cal Poly SLO is a good school, however, I heard it's a very small town and that demographically it's a male dominated school (sorry I'm a guy and I like a balanced ratio between the sexes haha). I've never been to SLO so I don't know what it's like. Any advice?
San Luis Obispo is a small town. It is near some very beautiful stretch of California coast line. So, unless you are into scuba diving, beach combing, or surfing, you might be bored to tears, especially if you are bored with Chico since Chico has a lot more going on if you can believe that. But....Cal Poly SLO is the better school. It's also near Pismo Beach, which is a popular site for beach lovers, surfers, and divers. You might be able to meet some ladies there, and what better place?
Chico is good if you like the mountains and dislocated farmers. SLO is good if you like the beach/ocean. Chico is also really good if you like to party.
Go to SLO. Chico is a great place to spend a couple of years but it's probably time to shake things up and go elsewhere to broaden your horizons. SLO is a nice place and a great school.
If you like the outdoors, SLO is the place to go. There's a bustling downtown bar scene (if you're into that stuff) and a TON of places to hike and explore. I've never once been bored living here, but I prefer a smaller area with outdoor activities instead of a 'city' type atmosphere.
It's pretty expensive to live here, though.... if you don't mind me asking, do you have a budget in mind?
