We obviously ended up going with the Saint Aubyn home in Remington Hill and saved our selves $80k.

And your neighbors are still 5 ft. away!

Not quite that close.

And we have the best neighbors that anyone could ever ask for. We all help each other when there is snow (like today), watch on each other's houses when away on travel, have backyard BBQs. Love this neighborhood!

Hi Inferno,
Would you say that FH isn't a great neighborhood for kids? We only have one so we need to be where he can have friends to play with. Thanks.

I am not going to go so far to say that FH is not a great neighborhood for kids. I can't speak for all of FH. We originally were looking at the Village of Verona in FH, but compared to Remington Hill, I truly feel we made the right choice. For our family, Remington Hill has turned out to be truly wonderful. I feel truly blessed to live in a neighborhood with such great neighbors. We all know each other by name, visit with each other, and support each other (like I mentioned above).

When we first moved in, all of our immediate neighbors welcomed us with open arms, baked home-made bread, etc. Just couldn't ask for better neighbors. At Christmas time, we exchange holiday goodies with our neighbors. It may sound corny, but it's just so refreshing to have a wonderful set of neighbors.

It's a very protective community. We all watch out for each others kids, support them when they are trying to sell things for school, or girl scouts, or whatever.

I also like that there's more convenient shopping options to Remington Hill. That may come in time for FH, but it's not there currently.

I bought a Vantage that was 5 years old and even tho it is not top of the line and somethings could have been done better-- but then I am picky-- but we sold a custom house before we moved here and I like this house way better and I have had no issues except up keep.

Flying horse has no appeal to me. Like others said, it's kind of out there, and that immediate areas not really that pretty. Way overpriced IMO. And the house stucco colors are all the same hideous brown/tan (subjective rant there). I've heard mixed reviews on Discovery Canyon as well. A lot of Pine Creek kids I went to HS with didn't like it, but I think that's because it was pretty stringent. I never really got it all out why they didn't like it, they just didn't.

I just toured some model homes in Wolf Ranch and they are pretty dang nice for decent price (350K-500K). That whole north powers area is going to have commercial locations move in (eventually) and I think it will actually be pretty centrally located. I think that's the best bang for your buck, basically east of Powers north of Woodmen. South of woodmen it's more affordable, which comes with less snazzy.

With these new homes you do get a lot for the price per square foot, but they are built fast and affordably, so there might be some issues, but I wouldn't say any of the builder are really bad.
