My dad's pretty bummed now that all the Red Tops are closed - they were one of the only places he liked to eat out.
What would you recommend as an alternative, without having to go further north than Fillmore St.?

Try Gunther Toody's at Powers & Palmer Park. It's a better burger than Red Top ever had.

I'll tell him to try that - I know he's been there before but not recently.

Cy's Drive-In at 19th and Uintah uses the same Ranch Foods Direct beef as Red Top and is about as authentic a little drive-in burger-joint as it gets. The decor is not "1950's style posters" but actual posters that have been hanging in there since the 1950's.

Gunther Toody's bacon cheese fries make me salivate just thinking about them.

*drool*

And they've got fantastic sundaes for dessert, too.

It was pricey, I think next time I go we're just doing appetizer and dessert as mentioned above. I just today had a bison burger at Phantom Canyon Brewery and it was amaaaaaazinnnnng.....

Gunther Toody's does a special on Wednesdays: buy one burger and get the second for 5 cents. I love their bleu suede shoes burger!

Cy's drive in he might like more than Gunther Toody's - I'll pass that on, thanks!

Sonic, go on Monday (or Tuesday? Wednesday? ha, not sure) for their nickel nights. Also, they commonly have good coupons in the Entertainment books that kids hawk every year for fundraisers.

Go for a place that sells hormone/anti-biotic free beef: like Cy's.
