Is anyone else going to be affected by this? Marksheffel between Peterson and Drennan Rd will be closed until Sept 9th. I travel through this segment dozens of times each summer to do estimates for my job (especially for the new neighborhoods off of Drennan and Fountain). The only detour is going through the worst part of powers - the portion with only 2-lanes that already backs up for miles during rush-hour. That will become a traffic nightmare! I sure hope the project will be worth it.

I'm personally a lot more affected by the I-25/Cimarron construction, which isn't scheduled to complete until the end of next year:

Steps to being a COS resident:

- Complain about roads being in bad shape, under-sized, or poorly designed
- Complain when said above complaints are being addressed

Sorry, I couldn't help myself

This is gonna suck bad for me while I'm landscaping. We take that portion all the time to get to Carson... Like you said, it drops you right in the worst part of Powers where it's like a 15-20 minute wait to get through the Airport light. There's no other detour and that's the only road for quite a ways around it.

Thank you for not calling it 'Markshuffle'.

I'm not complaining about the improvements. Marksheffel is arguably the worst pothole ridden road in all of Colorado Springs. However, Powers blvd between Bradley Rd and Space Village Ave already has some of the worst traffic jams in the city during rush hour (even worse than I-25 and Cimarron I think). I was just curious who else this was going to affect. I might start avoiding estimates in that part of town during the morning commute and rush hour.

The Google maps traffic report is showing powers between Astrozon and Airport Rd as having the slowest traffic in the city right now. In fact, it is showing it as dark red, which is supposed to be the most severe. All of Powers blvd seems to have slow-downs right now. I will certainly be avoiding this part of town during rush hour until Marksheffel is reopened!

Ditto. My back and forth to work route. Add Fillmore to the mix and I have a dream commute. Oh well, for the greater good, eh?
