I just don't see the ultra-religious conservatism stereotype in real life that is portrayed online.
How long have you lived in town?

IMO the ultra-religious stereotype is overblown. Most of the horror stories I've heard are from years past and I think the worst zealots have died off or chilled out.

I lived 11 years near Pine Creek HS and had many religious neighbors, none of which ever brought up the topic of religion. The treasurer of our HOA was a CPA at Focus on the Family (FOTF) and he never mentioned a word of it in any of our meetings. FOTF has its HQ in COLO SPGS but most of its followers are all over the country, and they've cut back their employment in the city by hundreds of jobs over the years. They have an impressive set of building that would be the envy of any corporate mogul but I'd bet it's half empty now.

Only ones to knock on our door was a couple ladies handing out the Watchtower publication, that's it. There are many devout people on the north side, they never bothered us but then again we never had kids in school or had much social activity.

I haven't experienced a lot of religious zealotry or intense conservatism here, either. Not even living and working on the north side for the last year and a half...having lived in Widefield for a few years before that, I did meet plenty of folks that I imagine might have been religious, and probably voted conservative, but were way too "live and let live" to bother me about it.

People knocking on the door? Not really so much. At least not the religious folks. Now those people trying to sell you internet, cable service, or a new roof? That's a whole other story...

Oh I see a few months give it some time. I am sure you will run into a few eventually.

Ok... even something that may happen "eventually" doesn't seem to live up to the staunch stereotype I'm reading about here.

Just my $.02.

The people on the street corners DO often have "God Bless" written on their cardboard signs...does that count?

...

(That was a horrible joke. I am going to hell. /shame.)

FL girl should get to high ground. (Quick)

CS is considered High Ground, in a number of ways.

I would give it a try (if you are more outdoor centric than 'big-city' centric)

Big city and Mtns... = SLC or Boulder / west Denver / Golden.

I've been here half a century and not had this happen to me. Perhaps my sensitivity radar to it all is muted and I've really been acosted by it all my life.
