I suppose technically everyone does, since gravity is ever-so-slightly lower here than at sea level. . (Weight at the top of Everest is roughly 99.72% of what it is at sea level.) There is also a study that people have somewhat lower appetite at higher elevation due to less Oxygen intake, which leads to more red blood cells, which leads to production of more hormone that controls feelings of hunger. Not sure I've ever noticed that - I always seem to be hungry when I go to higher elevation.

Here's an article that talks about it:

https://www.vox.com/2014/4/25/565261...nce-of-obesity

Although one possible reason mentioned for lower obesity rates in the mountains is that fat people don't move there in the first place!

CO and Cos tend to have populations that are more outdoor and activity oriented than most places, so we tend to have lower obesities rates. Perhaps you might find yourself willing to take on more activities which may lead to some weight loss. I certainly wouldn't plan on being here to suddenly cause weight to drop without any effort.

The evangelical aspect of daily life in Cos has been severely overblown by the media. Yes there are some large churches and some very outspoken zealots here. There also is a very large population of live and let live people and some threads of the remnants of when Cos was much more arts and culture driven along with some of its eclectic past that can be indulged in. How many places can say they have a global Christian ministry along with one of the oldest Coffin Races in the country, or hosting a large New Age Fair in the same city as a military academy. We are sometimes a study in opposites. The area has been a tourist area since its founding back in 1859, so there are a lot of things through out the region to keep you occupied. If you need a bigger city fix, then Denver is only an hour up the road.

Perhaps we should ask what sort of pearls are you hoping to find with this thread?

If I knew, I wouldn't have to ask!

Sorry, I should have been more specific - I meant about my original query.

Anecdotally, it takes less beer to get drunk when you first move to a higher elevation. That could lead to temporary weight loss until the body adjusts.

Denver has a much larger gay population if that is what you are seeking.

There are thousands just like you, right here in COS.

There is plenty of diversity, and plenty of contrasts (which beats living amongst many clones (i.e. Denver).

If you don't have respiratory risks, are able to find or create your own fun, are not oversensitive to very few quirky people... COS will be fine.

I do know far more people who have moved the opposite route, so consider asking around your current home.

Give it a try, come visit, exert yourself, attend local events as if you were a resident, stay with local friends rather than a hotel, explore, eat, shop, and recreate as if you are a local. Sample for several days during different seasons.

Or... Just make the jump and relocate.

Thanks everyone. PS: Denver's way too big for my tastes, and Blake Carrington said I couldn't come back.
