I agree! There are far better places than Hawaii. Like I mentioned, we went to the Dominican Republic. Mainland wasn't the prettiest, but the resorts are AMAZING and it's one of the cheapest islands in the Caribbean. Fiji is getting more affordable every year even. Canary Islands in Spain are beautiful. Even if money is really tight, there are plenty of pretty beaches w/in the states that are exotic and secluded enough that you wouldn't think you were in the states still. My vote still goes to an "exotic" type honeymoon unless you're both totally sold on coming to Colorado.

We don't have to worry about a down payment for a house we already have a house that his parents are renting to us - which is great. I will go out and do different activities my problem with the whole situation is that I have NEVER touched the ocean and I want to be able to say I did something I had never done before. I've gone out of state and stayed in a hotel its boring lets go somewhere that neither of us have been and have a good time. And he wants to do something that doesnt require passport - I say Bahamas

if anyone has any other suggestions please email them to me personally

To the quote of going to Capri - LOVE the idea we were actually going to go to the Amalfi Coast but it's far too expensive. If you can send me info on places that are affordable please, that'd be wonderful.

I just sent you a response to your pm before I read your last post here. The dominican republic does require a passport but it was totally worth it and it took less than 2 months to get it. I think I applied for it in December and I had it at the end of January. Plus you'll have it for the future if you ever decide to take another trip out of the country. And, (my personal thoughts, especially w/ us being military and having to move a lot), give it time and restrictions are going to tighten and getting a passport will get harder. Things aren't exactly getting easier for us to travel about, so if you get your passport now, you will have an easier time rather than if you decide to get it a few years from now.

Now you need a passport to even go to Mexico so when I got mine about 3 months ago it only took about a week to get it. They have sped up the process since so many people need them now. And it was really easy to get it and was one of just a few english speaking people getting a passport at that time.

It's better to choose ski resort for honey moon. It will be adventurous as well as romantic during that trip and also it makes us so closer. Most of them suggested crested butte luxury ski resorts they provide good service and hospitality.

Have you tried using a map to show him that both HI and FL are IN THE US?

A lot of people don't like Hawaii for the same reason they don't like other things that most people feel are 'the best'. Mainly to be different.

As much as I love the mountains here, I'd say that when it comes to Honeymoons... 2 WEEKS IN KAUAI -- THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE!! (personally, I'd avoid the resorts and get a condo... it's cheaper and you can stay right on the beach that way, away from crowds)

Save the third world adventures and mountain retreats for vacation getaways AFTER you're married for a while.

You are married by now I am sure, but what did you end up doing? I was going to suggest asking your groom why he wanted to come to this area than plan accordingly. Still let us know what you ended up doing?

Ok, Here is the information on luxury resorts in US and other places. Just choose the best resort and then booked the chosen resort for reservation.

Laughed out loud at your first line. Great post. I'd give you more rep points, but the page says I can't.
