Hey everyone!

I will be moving to Colorado Springs in about a month and half. I will be working for walgreens and I will be floating as a pharmacist. My goal is to get an apartment for about 6 months, then once I settle into a store, get a new apartment close by. So far I have been looking at Camelback Pointe Apartments, as well as Cascade Park, which is more downtown. I would like to be near the walgreens (google maps shows where they are). I am not sure how easily it is to get around town, as I have only been once. I will be visiting before I decide on a place. My budget is about 800-1200. I would like lofts, or something downtown, but I don't mind the quiet 2 bedroom like camelback pointe. What could you guys recommend that is centrally located (or perhaps a few good areas) that I could look into? I heard that there really arent any bad areas, just I want to avoid them if I can. If I am in the city, a 1b/1b would be fine. Just as long as it stays in my price range. You guys have any recommendations? Thanks for reading, and thanks for your time!

Matt

Matt, sorry I can't help you much, but I will tell you there are some areas to stay away from. Stay away from the apartments in the south side of town (for the most part).

The Camelback Pointe apartments have good reviews and are in a decent part of town.

Here are some reviews I found:

Good luck and I wish you the best!

There are Walgreens all over town and happen to be my favorite Rx. Rent for a while until permanently assigned.

Fairly easy to get around town. I'm from the DC area and know about gridlock and combat commuting, none of which we have here.

Downtown is a fairly cool area, but lacks the sort of large garden apartment complexes you'll see in the suburbs. Most rentals down there are in large old homes with a few loft-style places scattered about. IMO, any of these would do you well and are in your price range. If you bicycle any amount, downtown will be very agreeable to you.

Cascade Park is a few blocks south of pricey Colorado College, a private college with a great campus any many events open to the public. These apartments are in one of the prettiest parts of town and look nice. Not sure if many students reside there, that could be an issue.

Camelback Pointe look great but are not a good choice for BEING downtown WHEN compared to the location of Cascade Park.

Driving-wise, there's not more than a 7-10 minute difference between the two for getting downtown, with Cascade being eminently bikeable. Both are easy access to I-25. Either one's a good choice.

Thanks for the help so far. From what I gather, either of these two places seem like they would be good choices. And also in good neighborhoods. I was checking Craigslist and saw some Citywalk condos for rent. I might check into those as well. It seems that it really doesn't matter where in the city, since I should have no problem navigating and will only have short commutes. Ultimately I will visit the apartments first, but just trying to wean out some and have a few I'd like to visit. Do you guys have any favorite apartments that you would recommend? Or that you know are really above all the rest(that are not in bad area)? Thanks for the all the help so far =)

So here is my update. I am going out on the 1st of June to visit some apartments. Camelback Point for sure. Maybe Cascade Parks. I got a brochure from apartments, etc. with a few recommendations but they all have bad ratings on forrent.com or from google. I mean it seems that all these places some ppl complain about something. I just want a nice area where the tenants are normal and there is a couple things to do around there. I don't need to be in the city. Do you guys have any recommendations? I am starting to freak out, since I only have 2 places that I actually want to visit. The Resort at Creekside wants a 10 mon and I just want to start 6th mon. Maybe get a place at citywalk. I will be out in COS in the end of May and 1-2 of June. So I really want to plan this out and see some potentials. If anyone has anything to offer that would be great. Maybe in the North region.? Thanks. I am starting to get nervous that I wont have places to go because I want it down to like 5-6 and go visit them and make a decision. Thanks!

Matt
