Yep, its 65" average. But its not as bad as it sounds. Denvers' average is 60" per year. Castle Rock 58" and Colorado Springs, only 40". Thats all based off 1948 -> 2005 data only.

BUt thats nothing compared to real mountain towns, like Breckenridge (163"), aspen (173"), winter park (227").

BY the way, alamosa gets only 30" of snow per year.

The san luis valley is supposedly the highest desert in N. America. Its also VERY windy and the conditions can be extreme. The views are excellent.

10" of snow per year? I don't know where in Colorado you would get so little. I know 10" per year is about what Albuquerque, NM gets.

Palisade/Grand Junction is around 16-18" of snow a year.

I'll say it again, anyone who P and M's about winter in most places in Colorado has never lived where they have REAL winter. If you've been in a Montana blizzard--with snow blowing horizonatally at 60 mph and a wind chill near minus 70--now THAT'S winter. Gunnison, Alamosa, Fraser--places like that have winter. Most of the lower elevation areas aren't that bad. Heck, I haven't broken out my long-sleeve shirts yet. Still feels like summer.

PS-The San Luis Valley is the largest high alpine valley in the world. I really like it down there. Yeah, it does get cold, but not much snow on the valley floor most winters. The cold keeps the wuss's out--that's fine with me.

I am wanting to move to Canon City or Colo Spgs early 2017. I am so tired of the heat here in South Texas.
