Since I've been here there seems to be a lot of discussion around the general underlying personality traits and "feel" of the area on such things as friendliness, aloofness, warmth, and general openness.

I found this article from earlier this week that talks about each of the states or more regions by their respective personality traits. Details of the study are in another link found in the above article. Interestingly, Colorado doesn't really fall into any of the 3 regions definitively but moreover is a mix between the "Conventional and Friendly" of the midwest and South and "Relaxed and Creative" of the West Coast. Seems kind of consistent with people's experience here as it's such a large mix of transplants that it's tough to identify with one region strongly. Thought others that have talked about this might find this interesting too.

This article in TIME seems to be a follow up to the one I posted above that allows you take a test and see which state fits you most.

We are midwest meets west coast. Nothing here resembles the south or northeast.

Interesting enough, but I would think a bunch of college professors could find something better to do with their time (and salaries) than try to classify the personality of millions of people with two words.

+10

That's what I always answer when people ask "what are people in Denver like". How do you describe one or two traits of 2 million people, most of whom have moved from someplace else?

Apparently I should be living in Pennsylvania, according to that quiz. I have no idea how to feel about that.

I got California.

I guess I'm alright with that. I like California, but I like it here too.
