Amendment 66 is an income tax increase to fund schools. I'm against.

Proposition AA is the sales tax on marijuana. I'm for.

I'm voting no on 66 too. I have a family member who's a rural district school teacher and she said that 66 is about Hickenlooper taking tax money to send to big Denver schools and it WILL go to big admin and not to help students.

I know AA is for weed tax, but isn't there another smaller weed tax? One for about 25% and another for about 3%?

Poll added.

I'm for both....but then again y'all could probably guess that, eh.

I am voting for amendment AA and no on amendment 66. I, am, also voting for a local amendment to raise sales taxes 1/2 percent for local non-profit organizations.

With all due respect, your family member is mis-informed. If this is just a grab for power by "big Denver schools," why do all the following rural Colorado School boards support the measure?

Boulder Valley School District
Brighton School District 27J
Brush School District RE-2(J)
Center Consolidated School District 26JT
Dolores School District RE-4A
Durango School District 9-R Board of Education
Eagle County Schools
Englewood Public School District
Monte Vista School District
Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1
North Conejos School District RE 1-J
Pueblo County School District
St. Vrain Valley Schools
Summit County School District
Weld County School District 6 Board of Education
Weldon Valley RE-20J

Hmmmmm?

^

I just don't think the economy can afford the higher tax now.

The economy needs to attract employers. A better educated work force will help do that.

Already voted no on Amendment 66 mostly because the numbers that the pro side is using are complete crap. My state income tax rate would rise from 4.6% to 5.9%. That's an increase of $2000 per year...on top of medical premiums that are going to rise $2400 per year and prescription drug costs that are going to rise by $3000 per year. Additionally Colorado ranks in the top 10 nationally in student outcomes and my district already has music and gym classes. It's a money grab and it gives the legislature free reign to change the income levels for the levels for the rate tiers. It's a bad piece of legislation.

I just checked out the Independence Institute's website, which seems to offer a whole lot of discussion on both sides of the Amendment 66 issue. I suggest that we all try to read up on the facts and make our own decisions. Amendment 66 and SB 213 | Education Policy Center

Or this one from the Bell Policy Center Amendments | The Bell Policy Center
