my family and i have been looking toward the west these days. new england is not so new anymore and we need a change of pace and scenery. ive lived in massachusetts my whole life and have only been up and down the east coast. so my knowledge of colorado is only what i read here or have seen on tv. so, a bit more about us, i am 29 and my wife is 22. we have a 6 month old girl! i have been building houses for the last 10 yrs and have my contractors licence here in mass. we have been looking into semi-secluded areas .... with a view of course .so to get right down to my questions,

1. is there alot of building going on right now or jobs for carpenters?
2. whats the average pay scale?
3. what areas would those jobs be in.... if any?
4. are there alot of places to ride dirtbikes and atv's? i MUST live where riding isnt looked upon as criminal like it is here!

and as for the best places to raise a family i have been reading up on the other posts and feedback for these.

The mountain towns that are associated with sking are doing great construction wise. Colorado has slowed pretty good during the past year in Residential Construction, I have heard that Colorado springs is still building like crazy, and Ft. Collins is doing well. I dont know what the payscale for your part of the industry, and there are tons of places to ride dirtbikes and ATV's. If you get your contractors liscense in Colorado, doing remodel jobs and basement finishes would keep a pretty good ammount of work going for you. You will have to market yourself very well though.
