We have been having red flag warnings almost daily in the Cortez. Lots of wind and high gusts of wind. Water that actually falls from the sky is beginning to seem like an ancient Anasazi myth - nothing that actually happens in the present.

They cleared out all the dead brush and trees that were directly west of my house, but there's still plenty more out there, ready to burn at the flick of someone's Bic.

This is one time that I really wish I had a car since I live 6 miles from town and I have no close neighbors. I can see myself now, soaking my animals and myself with irrigation water and all of us hunkering down in the gully down the road which usually is filled with water.

Nothing like life in the rural West, eh?

Me too! Yesterday between noon to 4 p.m. it was getting gusty again, around 35-40 m.p.h. And the humidity? In GJ it was 7%, 8% in Delta and Montrose. Thankfully no fires in my area yet, but the conditions are just right for them.

Humidity was 9 percent up here yesterday. Not as windy as your area but oh, it is so ready to spark. So hope all are being very careful.

I got pretty good winds in Littleton yesterday. Just came out of no where. Knocked a bunch of stuff over on my patio. They say tomorrow will be windy again but not as bad.

Fortunately no homes in danger, according to NBC GJ affiliate KKCO. So far anyway.

I'm hoping other western slope people are getting precip--so far Fruita is coming up with damn little. Maybe 3 minutes of a light shower around 6 o'clock this morning. Big whoop. Maybe another wave will come in this afternoon, clouds are starting to break up.
