Great, huh? 2 cases - apparently visitors one 30 yr old male by way of Italy went thru the DIA.
Summit County.
1 attorney in NYC has quarantined 1000. Hope that doesn't happen here -
hope our shelves don't go bare like in other countries, either.
Good luck, be careful.

Did you know, in the US, there have been 29 million cases of influenza and 16 thousand flu-related deaths this season?

While I'm not denying COVID-19 is an issue, IMO, it is so overblown by the media.

I bet we can draw a reference to the character of a state by how we had covid-19 introduced to the state. Anyone surprised it's a tourist, here to go skiing? :-P

Dangit, I paid money for this ski trip and I'm going no matter what!

Definitely overblown media hype- who is at the most risk of actually dying from this flu?

The old, infirm and in poor health already (like any bad flu virus).

For the rest of us not much to worry about.

ah, so those of us unfortunate enough to arbitrarily be over 65 are expendable. As is my neighbor, in his 30s, recovering from cancer treatment.

Love the disdain for frailer elders who might be in care facilities, the hell with them, right? And those who care for them or care about them, says this retired RN (age 66 on my way to the gym)

There are three things that distinguish COVID-19 from all other types of flu...

1) People who have it are contagious to others BEFORE showing any physical signs of the illness.
2) There is NO vaccine or "cure" currently available for COVID-19. Based on past experience, there may be a vaccine available in a year or two.
3) As of 4 March, less than 1,000 tests have been performed within the entire country. Results of this slow start in the USA is that people who should voluntarily stay at home, are unknowingly, but actively passing the virus on to others.

Here's another fun fact…the lowest published mortality rate from COVID-19 is 2%. That percentage of the US population equals 6.5 million people. If even one percent of this number hit hospital emergency rooms at the same time, our entire health system would collapse.

Not according to the latest data from the last few days. Think about it - if transmission is via aerosolized droplets from coughing and sneezing, how does someone without these signs spread the virus?

80% of those infected have few, if any, signs of disease. How are these people being included in the denominator?

It does have a 94% recovery rate.

Btw, I know you didn't mean the infirm don't matter - there's no great diplomatic way to bring that up.

But as pointed out by a University professor of some pertinent subject, ...it doesn't seem these percentages
are so bad - 2% death, But he seemed to think (because there isn't a vaccine see), millions could end up getting this--
bringing up that you don't need symptoms and still spread it innocently like the NYC Attorney - now from one person
a school is closed and 1000 people are quarantined.
So, non-chalantly, ha, the expert said millions can get this now - the 2% becomes more significant.
(Shhhh - No one talks much about the fecal element, btw.)

I'm going about my life pretty much the same as I always do. The stockpiling of supplies like food, OTC meds and TP is ridiculous at this point. For most healthy people, eating healthy, getting adequate sleep, washing hands etc is enough. The elderly and immune compromised should probably discuss any need for extra precautions with their HCP.
