We just moved here from Ky, and can't seem to find anything but authentic mexican restaurants. What's the deal with the lack of tex mex restaurants? I have only seen 1 taco bell, and we have them on every corner in Louisville. No Don Pablos, Chuy's, or even Tumble Weed that I have seen. Any thoughts on where we can go for mexican other than authentic that I don't like?? Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions!

Where have you tried that you didn't like? Have you tried any of the Monterrey's? San Jose? Moe's?

Taqueria Jalisco, I-26 at St. Andrews. It's more on the "mex" end of tex-mex though.

South Carolina is too far away from Tex for us to have much in the way of Tex-Mex, I think. If you liked Don Pablo's, El Chico is the closest I've had here to that, but I'm no fan of either place so I may not be the best judge.

Thanks for all the replies. FYI...Kentucky was farther away from Texas than South Carolina, and they had multiple tex-mex restaurants. I think it may be due to the size of Columbia.

So you're saying in a metro of 800,000 there aren't enough people for a Tex-Mex restaurant, but we have numerous Middle Eastern Restaurants, several Vietnamese restaurants and several Thai restaurants? Interesting reasoning.

I've long since given up trying to reason why so many national brands don't have a presence in Columbia but do in smaller markets.
