Having moved from Tennessee, where wine can only be sold in liquor stores, and liquor stores aren't allowed to sell anything but wine, liquor and high-alcohol content beers (can't even carry corkscrews), my husband and I felt like kids in a candy store at Green's on Assembly. Huge store, reasonable prices and great selection (hubby is a beer drinker, wine for me). It's worth noting that Green's offers a 10-percent discount if you pay in cash (including checks or debit cards) and they give another 10 percent off on wine by the case.

Ah, but chocolate and wine can make such great companions!

Speaking of which, are there any wineries in the area? Any places that do wine tastings?

What about places that specialize in single malt Scotch?

Corked in the Village at Sandhill is a wine store. They also carry high gravity beer and they do wine tastings every Friday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Corked - open, taste and enjoy

No wineries that I know of but The Cellar on Greene pretty much has a non stop tasting going on. Drop by there and see what you think.
