Hello, we are very excited to be relocating to columbia, sc from charlotte, nc. My mom was blessed with a new job & we will be moving in september. We are seeking help in finding a nice 2br 2ba apartment in a safe DIVERSE neighborhood in our price range ($500 - $650) then after a year when we've settled, hopefully we will be looking into buying a house. We are both single women in our 20's & 40's & we also have 3 beautiful cats who will be coming with us so finding a good vet is important as well.

Advice for a good community college in the area will be helpful too because I would like to go back to school in the spring. We are completely new to this area but not new to the city life so what are some neighborhoods we need to avoid by any means necessary? Coming from charlotte safety & convience is very very important. We will be touring the city next week. If you know any businesses that help with finding an apartment, please let us know by replying to this thread or by PM.

Thank you so much for reading.

First, I'd ask where your mom's new job is? Really, the only area to absolutely avoid is north Columbia, anywhere else you can find a safe area to live in.

If her job is downtown, then you may want to look at SE Cola, as that would put you close to the main community college in the area - Midlands Tech - which is on Beltline Blvd. in the Rosewood area.

And as for the vet, we have used Dr. Griffin on Barnwell just east of downtown and have been very pleased w/the service there thus far, although we have dogs and no cats.

Hope that helps a little.

Hampton courts apartments: call (803) 783-5390‎
You can look at apt facilities and floor plans here: Hampton Courts Apartments Columbia, SC - Apartments for Rent in Columbia South Carolina
But the prices in the web are wrong. You will get a way better deal on prices as they vary time to time. Call the office and if you can make a trip. I highly recommend this place due to location and safety.
