I was able to find some general information for site selection from a pdf file.
A population of at least 200,000 is needed within a 5 mile radius with a median income of $75,000.

Based upon that, Fresh Market shouldn't have opened up...right? Our median income is pretty low around here.

Ok then well that clarifies it we have the population of over 200,000 within a 5 mile radius. And our median income would be close too $75,000 I would imagine. You must think that Columbus is a small town in georgia you better think again. I don't think a city with 202,824 like Columbus is considered small. Columbus may have a small town feel but I think we can sure support a Costco because we have the population for it and the income for it I suppose. And I don't understand Costco why are they so stricted on what city they choose to do business in to me there know different from samsclub. And we have a samsclub and there always packed with people so a Costco would do the same here.

according to the wikipedia Columbus ga city limits population in 2013 is 202,824 so it's probably a bit higher now. If I had to guess I would say that the 2014 population of Columbus would be 203,000 now just a guess.

oh and by the way Columbus has a Fresh Market. The retail and business markets in Columbus are strong.

I didn't create the numbers. It's not my fault Columbus has a low median income...

Yes, and it had nothing to do with what we were discussing, so I didn't say anything about it.

If you're that desperate, there is a Costco in Montgomery. It takes less than an hour when I take the back way from my house (Smiths/Salem area).
