I think the announcement was more on the local news as opposed to them releasing something.
Oh okay, interesting to know!

This is going to be huge for the city. They are planning on emulating the battery in Cobb county. They are expected to issue bonds in excess of $50 million. The plan is to have residential, retail and a hotel. If all goes right, this could be the biggest development in Columbus in 30 years.

Definitely a win for that area!! The Housing Authority already have plans to start construction on the old BTW site right across the street with a mixed-use project so this is perfect.

I just hope the city can keep a minor league baseball team for more than a couple of years.

I have fond memories of going to see the Astros, Mudcats, and Redstixx growing up.

I live in Charleston now, and our minor league team is so much fun. Some of our promotions have been Win Your Own Funeral Night, Italian Plumber Night (which involved go kart races, banana peel throwing, and Italian food specials), Zero Attendance night (where they locked the gates until the 5th inning...They provided ladders by the outfield so people could watch). Plus, the food options at the ballpark have won actual awards.

If the new Columbus team is going to be successful, they are going to really need to get creative with promotions.

The current placement of the civic center doesn't benefit this plan. It has to be closer to the main road for this work. Remember how closer the auditorium was to victory drive before being demolished.
