Midland Commons could bring a wholesale club (i.e. Costco) and a freestanding drugstore (i.e. CVS, Walgreen's).

I hope it will bring some new locations to the area. I know there were a few that were looking for the right place to enter our area.

I also still have hopes for Costco, I know someone from Costco real estate said they weren't targeting US expansion, but companies don't always seem forthcoming about their expansion plans, so it wouldn't surprised me if they did still show up at some point. I'm also hoping for a nicer Target in Columbus. We could use one on that side of Columbus.

Does anyone know when this might be completed? I'm guessing not for a while since I haven't seen construction start there yet.

I do not know if any tenants are signed on for Midland Commons. If there are a quantity of tenants signed on, I could see construction beginning in phases. Allowing one year for grading and construction, an opening in late 2018 or early 2019 could be doable.

I wonder if Costco constantly reviews potential markets for new stores.

What you said about Costco crossed my mind as well. They may not have shown all of their cards. Costco (Dan Venable) knows what they are going to do 5 years out. He told Chris Wightman and I that Columbus is not on their 5 year plan. Something I would have liked to have known prior to starting the petition.

Costco also basically said that Columbus does not make enough money so we do not meet their income requirements. He said several other things as well.

Dan's email and office phone number are listed in the Bring Costco to Columbus GA petition

Costco not happening for Columbus. They want to be in a city with interstate access. Now,Wholefoods is coming to Columbus very soon. The earliest date/year is 2019.
