After having to dig through some newspaper articles and forum threads to find some information that I was looking for, I thought it might be a good idea to start an on-going thread for projects that are being developed in Columbus.

If you have information about projects that fit into one of the following categories:
  • Rumored - Projects that are rumored to be coming to the market, but no confirmed plans have been announced.
  • Proposed - Projects that are in the early planning stages, have LOI (letter of intent) or development simply hasn't been started yet.
  • In-Progress - Projects that ground as been broken, interior build-out has begun, etc.

Post any rumors or confirmed information below, or shoot me a DM if you're not comfortable posting the information here and I'll update this thread.

Please make sure to check below to see if the project is listed before re-posting an item in a Reply below. Thanks!

Rumored
  • La Madeleine is said to be in the area looking for two locations in the Columbus area. Not suspected locations as of yet.

Proposed
  • Gateway Shopping Center located on Gateway Rd in Midland next to Goo Goo 3 Minute Express Wash. Tenants to include Erbert & Gerbert's, a Japanese restaurant and up to 3 other tenants. Estimated opening November 2013.
  • Hardee's is working on the plans for it's newest North Columbus location located in Midland next to the Chick-fil-A at Lakeside Village. ETA is unknown.

In-Progress
  • Columbus Park Crossing NW #2 located next to Zoe's, Five Guys and Big Dog Running Company. This complex will include Chipotle Mexican Grill, Panda Express, and up to 4 other spaces available for lease. Estimated opening in Winter 2013.
  • Erbert & Gerbert's is opening their first of two locations in North Columbus just off Bradley Park Drive in the old Columbus Coffee Company. It will include a drive thru and will be open within the next 3-4 months.
  • McDonalds/C-Store Combo is currently under construction on the corner of J.R. Allen Parkway and Flat Rock Road. Opening should be within the next 2-3 months.
  • Shops of Lakeside Village is set to open late this summer with Moe's Southwest Grill, Subway, Yogli Mogli, LV Grill & Bar, Chicken Salad Chick.
  • Maltitude Craft Beer & Wine is located in Uptown Columbus where they will offer craft beers including those of the bottled type, growler's (recently approved by the state) and wine to take off-site. "Boutique" liquor store, if you will.
  • Safelite Auto Glass located next to O'Reilly Auto Parts at 7711 Veterans Parkway, Columbus, GA 31909. Their first "retail" location in Columbus!

Recently Completed
  • O'Reilly Auto Parts located in North Columbus at 7830 Veterans Parkway, Columbus, GA 31909.
  • Big Dog Running Co. located next to Zoe's Kitchen on Whittlesey Blvd. This is their 3 location in the area (Downtown, North Columbus & Auburn)

Patriot's Walk by the Infantry Museum is expected to start in Q4 of this year. They just opened the 102 room Hampton Inn. This will be huge for that area. Also, several large tracts along Victory Drive have been purchased for redevelopment. Developers are putting plans together to raze several sites and redevelop. Hope to hear more soon.

Thanks! Know the name of the Mexican place? Also, any update on Patriot's Walk or Old Town?

Spoke with a credible source at the Nissan dealership at Bradley Park. The owner of the store is working on getting an Infiniti dealership on the parcel next to his Nissan store. No timeline but in the works. That would be perfect since Nissan makes/owns Infiniti.

That would be great, I didn't realize until a few weeks ago that the dealership had been sold once again. It started as Rob Doll, then was told to the guy from Birmingham that owned Headquarter Kia, then to this guy. I hope he's able to make the Infinti dealership a reality.

Good to hear. Wish that TitleMax would go and that lot redeveloped.

What's the deal with the new Mexican restaurants? Are we talking fresh, real, authentic Mexican food or more of that 83-variations-on-ground-beef-in-a-tortilla Mexican food that people in Columbus are used to?

I'll believe the victory drive razing when I see it. Too many dumb people (business wise) have made it almost unreasonable for new business to come down there. Stupid Ordinances that make businesses "just spend a little more" to move to an undesirable area - a lot will have to change to pump money into that part of town.

For the recond, I'm of the opinion that areas like victory drive need all the advantages they can get to redevelop and pump money into those areas - I just don't believe the people in charge will provide the incentives to make it happen.
