Looking at 2011 population estimates, the trend of lower suburban growth and greater urban growth is very clear in the Columbus area. Here are the 15 areas growing faster the past year than the 2000-2010 average and the 15 areas growing more slowly the last year than the 2000-2010 average. I'm just sticking with Franklin County or those areas that have grown the fastest in recent years.

Top 15 Areas Growing Faster (Difference 2010-2011 vs 2000-2010 avg)

1. Columbus: +2,844.7
2. Westerville: +464.8
3. Upper Arlington: +443.5
4. Gahanna: +384.8
5. Whitehall: +357.9
6. Worthington: +235
7. Bexley: +178.6
8. Grandview: +104.9
9. Minerva Park: +17.6
10. Reynoldsburg: +17.6
11. Marble Cliff: +14.3
12. Obetz: +7.5
13. Lockborne: +6.3
14. Harrisburg: +6.3
15. Valleyview: +6.1

Bottom 15 Areas Growing More Slowly

1. Pickerington: -732.9
2. Dublin: -440.9
3. Pataskala: -402.3
4. Grove City: -373
5. New Albany: -291.3
6. Powell: -248.3
7. Canal Winchester: -172.3
8. Delaware: -163
9. Plain City: -135.3
10. Lancaster: -98.5
11. Johnstown: -98.2
12. Groveport: -77.8
13. Sunbury: -71.9
14. Ashville: -69.3
15. South Bloomfield: -46.5

So while a few of the outer burbs grew faster in the last year, most of their growth rates fell. This doesn't mean that those areas on the second list aren't still growing (the majority are), but the suburban boom has definitely dropped off. Meanwhile, Columbus and it's inner suburbs had their growth rates increase. It also appears that Columbus' East Side areas have done the best overall.
