Note that on that USG renters guide, you have to go back to 2011-2012 to get a readable version with pie graphs and renter comments. Whoever planned the infographics for the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 versions really didn't think it through... the graphs are hardly legible.

HI, thanks for all the great advice! This should come in very helpful. Our son did finally find an apartment and a roommate and signed a lease about 10 days ago. All this had to be done long distance and via the web, hopefully it will all work out well. I know that being a tenant or a landlord each have their own particular set of challenges - neither is easy in today's world of litigious-happy folks.

If the apartment doesn't work out well this coming year, at least he will be in town and know more people and the lay of the land, so it would make it easier to find a new place for the following year.

Wow, all of those earlier stipulations sound like complete BS. It's unfortunate that landlords get away with that stuff.

Grandview is nice and he will easily be able to bike to west campus. Good luck to him!
