We are interested in moving to the Delaware area. My husband is currently in Ohio working in the Polaris area while I'm in Florida with our children trying to sell our home. We would like to have "country living, but be city close" We lived in Chillicothe for 9 years and love the small town feel. Which school district is considered the best in the Columbus area? We may have to rent a home with a lease/purchase option.

Default Relocating to Columbus

Here are some websites that may help you with school information and ratings.

Schooldigger.com -- Search and compare elementary, middle, and high schools.

Ohio Public School Rankings

You may want to consider Powell or New Albany for homes.

We are trying to sell our home to move to Florida! Ironic. My husband and I live near Alum Creek State Park. Country, but still close to all the area retailers. If you would like some information please contact me. We live in the Olentangy School District. Not a florclosure. Just want warm weather, all year long

We live in Powell and really like it. Being that your DH works in the Polaris area - Powell is probably a great option. IMO, the best school districts are going to be Upper Arlington, New Albany, Dublin & Powell. These are very different suburbs so it really depends what you are looking for in a home.

UA has charm & character, older, mostly well maintained, pricey. NA has that town & country feel, very well planned, newer & very expensive. Dublin is nice but big. We had found a house we liked with a Dublin address but not the schools - be careful of that - can be very hard to figure out. Same with Powell (Olentangy) although the homes here tend to be very new and thats what we wanted.

You find alot of transplants from all areas of the country. I am amazed that there are so many native Southerers like me that live in the Columbus area. Most are lured here by well paying, white collar jobs. The economy here seems to be holding its own in spite of what is going on nationally. The area did not apprear to experience a huge price boom. I have been very happy with our move here.

Good luck to you!

Dear Buckeye Bound:

You may also consider areas such as Johnstown or Sunbury. These will have the small town feel you are looking for.

This is a link to the Dept. of Education's webpage where you can research schools/report cards for each district. www.ode.state.oh.us/

If you are searching for rent to own properties, I would be happy to email you a list of possiblities.

Best of luck with your search,
