Hello everyone!

I spent the first 24 years of my life in Akron, Oh and then moved to Lexington, KY for the past 7 years. My husband may take a job in Columbus at the end of the year and I will be attending grad school at OSU. I've been doing a lot of research on the city. I'm VERY excited to move, as I'm a buckeye born and raised. We have a 3 year old child so schools are our top priority. We will start out renting until we find a place to buy. What I'm looking for is this:

1. Good (great) public school district
2. A location with a city feel but safe at the same time
3. Historic looking apartment/condo/house to rent for 6-12 months
4. Rent under 1200/month
5. Charming atmosphere that has character

Thank you so much for any advice you could provide. Looking SO forward to the possible move!

First places I would look would be Grandview or Bexley--I think both would give you what you're looking for.

Personally, I would move to the CBD, the Arena District, or German Village and send my kids to private school if I were you. Definitely sounds more like what you are looking for. Columbus is actually pretty safe, especially the areas I mentioned, it's just that the schools are a little lackluster.

For better imput, try this site: www.urbanohio.com/forum2 It's a site I frequent, and is filled with forumers that have similar interests, and a sizeable amount are from Columbus and live in the areas I mentioned. Give it a shot!!!!!

I wouldn't consider downtown or the Arena District since she has a child. German Village and Bexley are nice areas, and Bexley has excellent private and public schools.
