I'm new to Digital camera.
Having trouble resizing my pic in my emails.
They are huge.I have heard of Picasa and Photobucket.
What is the best way so I can send them to friends and family.
Thanks.

Picasa's web albums and Photobucket are good for hosting pictures online where everyone can see them. But for simply resizing a picture so that its small enough to easily go through email, a simple program this: Image Resizer for Windows

Open up Paint. Open the photo. Click on Resize. Place 50 in Vertical & Horizontal. Save as a jpg. It will transmit now.

Another way to shrink the photo is to go into setup in the camera and lower the pixel to 3. You don't need any higher if you are not going to print them.

Here is another resource (Free !!!)

Go to:
FastStone Image Viewer, Screen Capture, Photo Resizer ...

There are two (2) FREE programmes you can down load.

I suggest you download both of them.
1 - FastStone Image Viewer 4.3 Freeware (Last Update: 2011-01-14)

2 -
FastStone Photo Resizer 3.0 Freeware (Last Update: 2010-04-28)

Use the *Resizer* and make any of your pictures smaller,
to what ever size some on-line programmes or websites require.
A little bit of figuring out how to get to that size, is required,
but it is not hard to do.
Sometimes, trial and error, will give you the size you need to have in the end.

If you do NOT have a way to somewhat *organise* your gazillion digital pics,
(do not worry, you will have a gazillion sooner or later),
the Image Viewer is a very good way to do that.
Again a little bit of getting used to but in the end, a neat way to do it.
For instance some pics you take *sideways* like the small side of the pic on the bottom.
Most picture viewers do NOT *right side up* the pics.
Image Viewer has a way to make them always be *right side up*

You did mention, *
I'm new to Digital camera.*
- On your digital camera, do NOT use digital zoom.
Only use *regular zoom* which is usually 3x or better.
Any *digital* zoom is nothing more than *cropping*,
which you can do on your computer better than during the picture shoot.
Pictures taken with digital zoom are always of a lesser quality,
unless you have a real *high end* digital camera.
- Set your picture quality to the highest possible resolution.
Read your manual on how to do that.
If you need more pics per card, buy a larger card.
Shop around and you may fond some good deals.
My wife has a 16Gb card, which can hold 4,000 still pics,
or two hours of movie, which did cost me $27.-
In the end it was worth it.
- On your picture count (on your camera), do NOT let it reset every time you download pics or re-format your card.
It helps you *sort* pics later.
- If you find that some of your pics are not *sharp* or *out of focus*,
then you are NOT giving the camera time to let it focus.
So press halfway, then let it focus and press more down to *take the shot*.
- If you have kids around, never feel, *I have to wait for a better shot*.
Digital pics are easy to delete, and the *perfect shot* NEVER occurs,
when you are *ready or waiting*.

When you get *better* at it, you may want to *play around* with your pics.
There are several rather good editing programmes available.
Most of them have a trial version, some of them free.
Go that way and then stick with the one you will be comfortable with.

LBNL, *IF* your camera can take videos, do so, but remember that it takes up a lot of space on your card.
Important is that you do NOT zoom while taking videos, and most of all, move/pan *SLOWLY*.
When you do *download* them to your *whatever computer, store them in two places.
Once on your machine (Use a good programme), and also on a CD or DVD.
They are so darn cheap, it is ridiculous NOT to archive them !!!

Hope this helps.
