Why do my speakers play audio when my headset is plugged in?

The cup holder stopped opening when I press the button.

1) go to control panel
2) click on sound
3) under the playback tab, right click on the current speaker and press properties
4) click on the levels tab and turn the microphone all the way down
5) DONE! Enjoy!
