What exactly does privacy keeper do? (hard drive, download, delete, clear)

So I have a virus (made a thread on that too) and am probably going to end up sending it in to get it repaired but first I want to download privacy keeper (it won't mess things up more downloading right??) to make sure none of my sensitive information from the internet (card number, cell phone number etc) gets stolen. I mean I doubt the person fixing it would but I want to be careful. So, what exactly does privacy keeper do? Does it delete all internet info from the hard drive or is it just like clearing out your search history on a browser and leaves things behind???
Is there a better one or one I should avoid at all costs? Thanks for any answers.
