What the heck?

Windows 7, usually use Firefox but just checked IE and the same thing happens with that. It also happens with Word and Open Office.
It's only the letter B, upper or lower case. I x it out and keep going.
I have re*ooted, still happens.
Ran my virus program, nothing found.
It's *een happening for three days now.

(I am intentionally typing * instead of the second letter of the alpha*et to prevent the WMP pop-up window.)

Is this a keyboard issue, perhaps? Or what? Any ideas. It's very annoying.

Edit: Apparently using the exclamation point key shuts down whatever window I am in.
Norton Security (my antivirus program) hasn't found anything wrong with my system.

Might be a keystroke command shortcut that got accidently set up. If you know how to check out what your key commands are maybe you can reset it.

Thats what I was gonna say.....

Chiroptera: Goto your WMP shortcut (Should be PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/ENTERTAINMENT)

2) RIGHT CLICK ON YOUR WMP ENTRY AND SELECT PROPERTIES

See if the letter B has been assigned to open WMP!!

Good luck

Aha. Thank you.

I was wondering if that might be the issue. I couldn't find a way to turn off shortcut keys for WMP specifically. Dude, I noodled around in my control panel/accessories and other places without much luck. Pro*a*ly just me *eing incompetent.

I googled the pro*lem and it might *e my key*oard.

I tried an on-screen key*oard and that worked just fine. May stop and get a cheapie replacement today, see if that works. In the meantime I'm getting good at typing quickly inserting * for every * LOL. And not using the exclamation point key, since that shuts down the window and I lose everything I just typed.

Edit, just found it: no shortcut key assigned for WMP.

Hmmmm every now and then I accidently hit a certain key combo AND MY KEYBOARD IS MESSED UP!!!!

Pressing F opens SEARCH (Like I pressed CTRL-F,etc) .. Its a royal pain and i dont know how to disable it!!

Seeme like HOT KEYS but how I am activating it is beyond me!! (I press a bunch of keys together and it stops (KEYBOARD GOES BACK TO REG MODE))

Umm, are you turning on stickey keys? Hit shift 5 times really fast and it will ask you.

Or maybe your keyboard just sucks and the key is getting stuck or something.
