List your best e-mail programs in a list with the best one as #1, and why for each one.
Same for your worst.

We will be moving 3 household computers to Windows 7.
We have always used Outlook Express and Windows Mail before.
We have tried Thunderbird.
We have used Hotmail and Outlook and Yahoo for non personal types of messages.
Those three are not very good. We'd rate those at the bottom of the few choices we have with Windows 7.

I had been using Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail client up until the 2009 version. What replaced the 2009 version and the more recent mail program on Windows 10 both suck to put it bluntly.

I really don't know what else is out there but Thunderbird has more fit my needs. Aggregated inbox etc, on the left for multiple email accounts, buttons on the top for delete etc, emails list on the right with sortable columns and last but not least custom filters. It's very close to the original Outlook express.

I've had a yahoo email for 20 years or so and use it as my email for most online transactions and web accounts. Other than the occasional system glitches with Yahoo, I have no issues with it.

When I used XP, I used Outlook Express for personal emails because I like to keep them on the computer. That went away when switching to W7, so I switched to Thunderbird. As thecoalman stated, it certainly works for me. I have email through comcast and hate their web email, so Thunderbird works quite nicely.

How is it you think you read your email using Gmail? You use the gmail "program".

Gmail has a web based email client which is better than any of the others.

It's generally accepted that programs are run on computers, there is no Gmail program for computers. There is a Gmail app which is used on phones and tablets.

The OP specifically mentioned computers, no Gmail program exists for them, Gmail on a computer is accessed through a web browser, there is no program.
