We purchased Dell desktops and laptops with XP. Then we dual booted with Canonical's "Ubuntu" system. We switched the whole office over and found out that we didn't really need Vista or XP. The Open Office suite works just like MS office and it will even open Microsoft Office applications.

We still have a few employees that use the XP partitions, but for the most part everyone seems to like the Ubuntu desktop.....Especially the Compiz/Beryl plug-ins for multi-tasking.

And... we haven't had any infections with the Ubuntu systems. Our office down time from crashes is almost null now. The only infections we've had to deal with are with the few XP partition users.

Management has dictated that all of our employees learn the Ubuntu system by September 2008. We've discovered that Linux isn't all that hard any more.

This was pretty much a no-brainer decision for management.

This YouTube video got us interested.

Glad to hear it

It won't work for everyone in all situations, but it will replace most people's workhorse-type windows workstations without any issue.

Congrats on your "upgrade"
