I am trying desperatedly to learn how to drag a sentence and copy/paste it from a City-Data post into my new thread. After quoting the O/P, what is the next step.

I have gone into EDIT, and I know that CTRL+C is for copy and CTRL +V is for paste, but I must be doing something wrong, or forgetting to do something, because it is not working. I am new at this, I have a Vista Home Premium model.

I have gone into some help posts like Vistaheads, but people do not answer. Maybe I get lucky here. I need step by step instructions without leaving any step out. So, please, if you know, I would appreciate it greatly, and guarantee you eternal reps, plus my sincerest thanks.

Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V should work. You can also highlight the desired text (you are highlighting it first, right?) right-click on the text to get the menu and left-click on Copy. Go to the new thread and right-click the text box to get the menu and left-click on Paste to place the text in the box.

Additionally, if you want to offset the sentence like a quote, place {QUOTE} before the sentence and {/QUOTE} at the end of the sentence -- note: replace the curly brackets I just used with the straight ones.

I think you can find everything you want to know in the Administration Zone. I don't know if the thread you want is in the FAQ or About the Forum, but an Advanced Search will find all the details for you. How to do multiple quotes, insert links, insert pictures, etc.

If you wish to quote an entire CD post into the same thread, simply use the Quote button.

If you're trying for just a single sentence, then left -click highlight it, right-click Copy, move to your reply box, select the Quote button from the top of the message box, place your cursor between the HTML quote brackets, right click paste.
