I LOVE MY IMAC - WHAT I don't love is my mouse that is a POS - sorry, but for the money I invested in this product, am I out of line to expect a mouse that WORKS!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!
Any recommendations on a good mouse to get as a replacement? Because I'm not ordering another one of these. I've heard from WAY to many people with the same problem.
Feel free to leave me suggestions on a good scroll mouse, doesn't need to be wireless AT ALL.
Also comments if this is happening with YOUR apple mouse.
I haven't used a regular mouse for decades. Years ago I had hand surgery that really limited my movement, and I had NO grip at all. I got a track ball and fell in love with it.
My current one is a Logitech, but you just need to find one that fits your hand and you like the feel of.
It does take a bit of getting used to, but once you do, you won't go back.
Barking Spider: I agree 100% on the track ball. I've used them for ages. I would never go back to a mouse. I have a box of mouses/mice that came with computers and have not been used. Besides that, they seem to last forever.
Agree - love my Apples also, but have no need or care for the mouse that comes w/ the iMac... have used a Logitech Trackman Wheel Optical for years, and big fan of these. Hate moving a mouse around, worrying about its location - and this version is more accurate IMHO.
This memo is from an unnamed computer company. It went to all field engineers about a computer peripheral problem. The author of this memo was quite serious, but the engineers rolled on the floor:
"Mouse balls are now available as FRU (Field Replacement Unit). Therefore, if a mouse fails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a ball replacement. Because of the delicate nature of this procedure, replacement of mouse balls should only be attempted by properly trained personnel.
"Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining the underside of the mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and harder than foreign balls. Ball removal procedures differ depending upon the manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls can be replaced using the pop-off method. Domestic balls are replaced by using the twist-off method. Mouse balls are not usually static-sensitive. However, excessive handling can result in sudden discharge.
"Upon completion of ball replacement, the mouse may be used immediately. It is recommended that each replacer have a pair of spare balls for maintaining optimum customer satisfaction. Any customer missing his balls should suspect local personnel of removing these necessary items."
