Modified versions , only one difference is that the New Haven Line trains use Dual power. Catenary power in CT and part of NY and 3rd Rail form just near the Bronx border to GCT. The LIRR / Metro-North uses all 3rd Rail or Dual Diesel units like you see on the Danbury , Hudson , Harlem , Waterbury lines. These Trains also use a new Acceleration method ,our New Locos use it to. The New Trains have a top speed of 100mph. They Have wifi ? , Outlets , ADA Bathrooms. Your trains were also designed by a fellow Connecticut resident.

I think to save money the state should just buy DMU's for the Waterbury line. That can save millions in fuel costs each year. To get ridership up , build higher densities along the line or in Waterbury.

These are DMU's , there becoming popular for replacing lightly used Commuter Rail or Light Rail lines. The LIRR , MBTA , SEPTA , NJT and METRA plan on replacing some lines with them. Those would be lines with less then 10,000. Something similar to the San Diego Sprinter , but probably longer and defiantly not that horn. Waterbury residents have that prospection of Public Transit? Have them look at the southern Coastal areas. I think theres an estimated 300-400,000 who use PT. & Its growing.
