Hi All -

We recently moved to CT and are looking for a beach day tomorrow. We were looking at Hammananset (sp?), Rocky Neck or Ocean Beach...but don't know which one is better. We have three little kids and live outside of Hartford. The kids are happy with just sand and water, but is there one of the beaches that is just way better. I also was hoping for a place with decent parking so we don't have to trek for miles and miles with all our stuff.

I appreciate any advise!

I like Rocky Neck best myself. Great beach, great picnic areas, and lots to keep one busy. Not just sand and water type place.

As for "Treking" we use a garden wagon (Lowes for like $45) and just put all of our stuff in there and pull it along. Makes for a muuuuch easier "trek".

I suppose Hammonassett is prettiest- but Rocky Neck has more of a family feel. And, they've completed the boardwalk across the whole beach so it's easy to get between the east beach and west beach (where the snack bar is).

Thanks everyone for your help. We actually ended up going to Ocean Beach and everyone had a good time. They have a great spraypark and playground for the kids. After the beach we drove to Abbott's for Lobster Roll's...great day all around! We will go to Rocky Neck next time for sure.

Thanks again!
